What is Nextcloud?
Nextcloud is a self-hosted platform for files, calendars, contacts and collaborative documents, with desktop and mobile clients that sync the way a commercial cloud drive does.
The difference is where the data sits: on a disk you rent directly, under an account only you administer, with no scanning of the contents and no seat-based pricing.

Getting started with Nextcloud

- The first screen creates the admin account and initialises the database. Install the desktop or mobile client, point it at your server's address, and the first sync begins.
- Add your own domain from the same page when you are ready: point a DNS record at the server and the certificate is issued for you. The original address keeps working, so nothing you configured against it breaks.
- Take a backup once Nextcloud is configured the way you want it. A backup captures the whole server, so restoring one brings back Nextcloud and its data together — and it is the only thing that will bring them back.

How much storage do I get?
The disk of the plan you choose — Nextcloud stores files on the server's own filesystem, so its capacity is your plan's disk, and a larger plan or a resize gives you more.
Can I edit documents in the browser?
Yes, by adding Collabora or ONLYOFFICE from Nextcloud's app catalogue. Both are heavier than the core install, so give the server a plan with room to spare.
Does the mobile app work with a server on my own domain?
Yes. The clients accept any HTTPS URL, and the server is published on a valid HTTPS hostname from the moment it is built.
How long does it take to install Nextcloud?
