What is Listmonk?
Listmonk manages subscribers, lists, segments, campaigns and templates, and sends through your own SMTP or a provider's API, with analytics on opens and clicks.
It is a single Go binary with Postgres behind it, and it handles large lists on modest hardware — which is why people move to it when a per-subscriber bill starts to hurt.

Getting started with Listmonk
- When the build finishes, your server's page in the dashboard shows its HTTPS address, its root password and any sign-in details the installer set for Listmonk. The build console streams every step as it happens, so you can see exactly what was installed rather than taking it on trust.
- Sign in with the credentials your dashboard shows, then add your sending SMTP details before anything else: Listmonk composes and queues, and a relay delivers. Import a list, then send a test campaign to yourself.
- Add your own domain from the same page when you are ready: point a DNS record at the server and the certificate is issued for you. The original address keeps working, so nothing you configured against it breaks.
- Take a backup once Listmonk is configured the way you want it. A backup captures the whole server, so restoring one brings back Listmonk and its data together — and it is the only thing that will bring them back.
Frequently asked questions
Can Listmonk send mail on its own?
It needs an SMTP relay or provider API — it composes and queues, something else delivers. Bulk mail from a fresh server IP will not reach inboxes reliably, so use a reputable relay.
How large a list can it handle?
Very large ones; it is built for throughput. Your practical limit is what your sending relay permits, not Listmonk.
Does it handle unsubscribes and bounces?
Yes, both, including one-click unsubscribe headers and bounce processing — which is what keeps a list deliverable.
How long does it take to install Listmonk?
